A basic website is not sufficient for a community emergency medical service. It has to reassure patients, educate communities, make important information available, and make administrative tasks straightforward.
That was the mission when Hamburg Emergency Medical Services partnered with Wes Web to overhaul their website.
The project was not just a facelift for the site but had three major objectives:
- Establish confidence and credibility within the community
- Make services easier to access
- Streamline patient billing and member payments
The end result is a website that is better for the Hamburg EMS team and the patients who depend on them every day.
What EMS Wanted from Their New Website
Hamburg EMS had three major goals for their new website:
1. Foster Community Trust
The organization wanted a website that more accurately represented who they are, their history, and the role they play in the community.
Their old site had no place to share their mission, leadership, and rich history of providing emergency medical care.
2. Improve Service Visibility
Hamburg EMS needed a better way to inform visitors about its services.
They wanted dedicated pages explaining each offering rather than stuffing service information into larger pages.
3. Optimize Patient Payments & Memberships
Patients wanted an easier experience with:
- Ambulance bill payment
- Memberships and billing options
- Finding the right department when they have questions
This would improve the patient experience and reduce unnecessary calls to staff.
Solution 1: Establishing Trust with Better Community Information
A central aim was to provide visitors a feel for Hamburg EMS and why the community can rely on them. We built a comprehensive About page, rather than a simple About page, to highlight the organization’s mission, leadership, history, and involvement in the community.
The page now includes:
- Organization history
- Leadership information
- Service area information
- Community-focused messaging
- Employment opportunities
- Detailed career information
Including their service area also helps strengthen local SEO by reinforcing the communities Hamburg EMS serves.
Recruiting Better Applicants
The careers section was also redesigned. Instead of a generic employment application, the website now states:
- Job openings
- Job requirements
- Benefits of working with us
- What to look for in candidates
This helps attract better-fitting applicants before they even apply.
Solution 2: Making EMS Services Easier to Find
Hamburg EMS offers a large variety of emergency and non-emergency services, but visitors had to search through the website to find them. The redesign helps make these services much easier to discover.
Homepage Service Highlights
The homepage now directly features services, so visitors can see them right away. It provides a quick summary for people while also encouraging them to learn more.

We also developed a full services section, which includes a dedicated services page and a separate page for each service.
Services offered include:
- Emergency Medical Services (EMS)
- Basic Life Support (BLS)
- Advanced Life Support (ALS)
- Non-Emergency Transportation
- Event Standby Services
Each page details what the service covers, who it is for, and how patients or organizations can request help.
Online Transportation Request Form
Another major feature Hamburg EMS requested was an online form for requesting transportation. Patients can now request transportation through the website instead of calling.
To prevent any confusion, we also provided clear messaging that:
- Requests must be approved by Hamburg EMS.
- Patients should not come until confirmation has been received.
This improves communication and allows staff to more efficiently manage transportation scheduling.
Solution 3: Patient Resources & Simple Payments
A major improvement was made to the Patients & Billing section. Hamburg EMS accepts various payment methods depending on which type of bill the patient receives. Without clear organization, such a system often leads to confusion.

The redesigned website simplifies the process by guiding visitors directly to the correct payment option.
Organized Patient Billing Navigation
Instead of placing everything onto one page, the billing experience now walks visitors through each available option.
The Patients & Billing page clearly explains:
- Which payment option to choose
- What each option is used for
- How to complete each payment
- Where to go for additional help
Every page also includes clear contact information so patients can quickly reach someone if they have questions.
Embedded Membership Payments
For subscription memberships, Hamburg EMS uses Square for payment processing. We didn’t want to redirect users somewhere else, so we embedded the Square payment page directly onto the site. It makes the experience smoother and avoids unnecessary navigation.
Making Non-Emergency Billing Easier
We developed custom graphics to describe how patients can book transportation through the Hamburg EMS QR code system for non-emergency transportation billing.
We also developed a dedicated pop-up for patients billed by third-party providers that states:
- Why they received the bill
- What to do next
- Who to contact
This helps clarify things before the patient needs to make a phone call.
The Results
By focusing on user experience instead of simply redesigning the appearance, Hamburg EMS now has a website that better serves both patients and staff.

The new website helps:
- Create more trust within the community
- Explain emergency and non-emergency services
- Improve Local SEO through service and location content
- Simplify transportation requests
- Make billing and payment easier
- Reduce patient confusion
- Make it easy for visitors to quickly find the right information
This leads to a site that embraces the mission of Hamburg EMS and delivers a more fluid experience for anyone who lands on it.
Continuous Digital Marketing Plan
A well-designed website is only the beginning. With Hamburg EMS continuing to serve the community, continuous SEO and content marketing can help more local residents find their services online.
As the website adds service-specific content, optimizes local search visibility, and updates patient resources, it will continue to be a valuable resource for years to come while growing Hamburg EMS’s online footprint.
