Schuylkill County Construction Website Design
This website was so fun to design, and it was gratifying because it was for a good friend of mine. Jared owns a local construction business in Schuylkill County, PA. He has plans to grow and develop his business on a larger scale. In making those plans, he knew he would need to get a website, local search engine optimization, and a unified online presence across multiple marketing platforms. That is where I came in.
Most websites I have built are website redesigns. This construction website design is entirely new, which was a unique experience for me. The project needed everything created, from the branding colors to the logo. Typically I am building off the past branding and design, so this was a great project for me to learn and grow as a web designer.
This Website Is Not My Style
When I was working with Jared to determine the colors, I had him find a few logos and a few websites that he liked the appearance of so I could figure out his taste in design. This was after I created an initial logo that was not his style.
The logo I had made was inspired by a straightforward contractor design that simply brings in the letters/name (image on left). After discovering that it was not what he was looking for, I asked for some logos he liked (I should have done that first). The logos he gave me made sense and had a specific style, and so I came up with the design below (logo on right).
Local Contractor Homepage Design
I have never worked with construction yellow on a website. Working within a design that was not my typical style was great because it made me get creative with the appearance. Below is the homepage design.
Local Contractor Service Page Design
The service page is straightforward, and it is one of my favorite ways to structure a landing page. With the contact form towards the top, we will get more leads. Additionally, they prefer phone calls over contact forms, so I added a large number of ways for people to call quickly.
Once they have a more significant number of blog posts of past projects, I will integrate a slider of portfolio blog posts specifically focused on that service. The kitchen page, for instance, would have a slider of past kitchen projects that have information and details in the blog on each project. This idea for his website actually inspired me to do the same thing on mine. Which is what this blog post is about.
I Like Designing Construction Websites
For me, I know I like designing construction-oriented websites, and I am actually working on a few more (stay tuned!). Not only do I like working on these types of websites, but I enjoy performing digital marketing for construction companies. Construction business owners are straightforward and direct. Most internet marketers and web designers avoid these industries, but I think their communication style is excellent, simplifying many things. In addition, having worked construction in the past makes it much easier to write and create SEO-optimized content.
All in all, this website was a huge success, and I can’t wait to return in a year and update this post about how the construction site is doing and how it is ranking. Unfortunately, it will probably take a year instead of the usual six months because the website and URL are brand new, so Google will not trust their website for a while.
